Dr. Chad Black specializes in family practice and sports medicine, and he enjoys seeing patients feel better for the first time in a long time – spiritually, mentally, and physically.
Before joining Intermountain Healthcare, Dr. Black spent 15 years practicing medicine, most recently as a fellow in ER medicine and hospitalist at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. He worked as a medical director in an urgent care center, a director of acute/urgent care for an HMO, a medical home care physician, served as a major in the US Air Force in the family practice division at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida, and also worked with FEMA.
In his spare time, Dr. Black supports the Children Advocacy Center, Christian Teen Youth programs, and performs physicals for high school sports teams. He enjoys traveling, exercising, and coaching football.
Dr. Black earned his MD from St. Christopher School of Medicine in Luton, England. He also holds a GA/DC degree from Live University in Marietta, Georgia, and an NC/pre-med degree from North Carolina Central University; a BA from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He did his residency in family practice at University of Alabama. He is the only African-American to hold both an MD and DC in US history.
