A philosophy of comprehensive, collaborative lifetime cardiology care

Few things are as important as your heart’s health and, at Intermountain Healthcare, formerly HealthCare Partners Nevada, we take your cardiovascular care every bit as seriously as you do. Our team of board-certified cardiologists will listen to your needs and concerns to provide you with the most thorough, compassionate care available.

We are committed to providing you with the knowledge and guidance you need for long-lasting cardiovascular health. Our award-winning cardiological team is available in convenient locations throughout Nevada for immediate, detail-oriented service and ongoing, scheduled care.

Why Choose Intermountain Healthcare Cardiology?

Unified Care

Because providers at Intermountain Healthcare collaborate regularly and operate under a unified philosophy, our cardiologists regularly communicate with the patient’s primary care physician (PCP), ensuring consistent, comprehensive care. Best of all, cardiologists and PCPs can share medical records in real-time to help prevent important details from being missed when it comes to your care.

 A History of Innovation

Intermountain Healthcare cardiology has been at the forefront of leading medical developments in Nevada and is the first healthcare provider in the state to use MRI safe pacemakers and defibrillators. Our team was also the first in the state to treat patients using the WATCHMAN Device, a permanent implant designed to close the left atrial appendage in the heart, reducing the risk of stroke.

Industry-Revered Standards

Our cardiology division boasts the highest patient satisfaction scores across all of our Nevada services for its significant focus on combining quality care and cost containment.

The division’s Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Portz, was named a 2019 Top Doc by Vegas Inc. Magazine.

Cardiology Services from Intermountain Healthcare

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair

Cardiac-care specialists perform aortic repair for abdominal aneurysm using either open repair surgery or less invasive endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) methodologies.

Cardiovascular Disease Management

Using preventative care, education, and testing, our award-winning cardiologists can help you prevent and manage cardiovascular diseases, including high blood pressure, heart health and cholesterol management.

Carotid Ultrasonography

To inspect your arteries for blood clots and plaque buildup, our cardiologists use ultrasound-based diagnostic imaging to ensure the correct course of action is taken for your condition.

Coronary Angioplasty/Stenting

For hardening of the arteries, your doctor will first evaluate and confirm the presence of arterial plaque buildup before prescribing treatment which may include either a coronary artery bypass graft or an intervention procedure to improve blood flow to the heart such as balloon angioplasty, rotablation or stent placement.

To measure your heart’s health, your cardiologist will use ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) for high-resolution imaging.
